The Simões family passion for water skiing started a long time ago. The family "patriarch", known as Tanas among his friends and admirers, used to spend his summer holidays teaching water skiing to everyone who used to pass by Azarujinha beach at S. João do Estoril.
His contagious enthusiasm for this sport has contributes to spread water skiing all over Portugal and obviously to "contaminate" all family.
A few years later, the family's eldest son (João Paulo) bought a small yellow boat with 35 HP with which he has started to transmit to his 3 children (Madalena, Francisco and Duarte) everything he had learned from his father.
In a hot Summer day of 1982, João Paulo has invited his whole family to practice water skiing in Cascais bay, offering them an unforgettable afternoon.
He never dreamed that, from that day onwards, the future of his children would become so strongly involved in water skiing sport. The undeniable and recognized success of their performances can easily be confirmed through their sporting curricula, with lots of national championships and also some excellent international results.
Ski Clube Quinta Grande was born in an obvious and natural way. Since its opening in 1997, 4819 people have passed through the Ski Clube. From skiers to wakeboarders, all ages, various nationalities, skiing experts and beginners, some of them giving already the first steps in competition.
You can now see, how the grandfather's testimony was transmitted to their grandchildren, and decisively helped do develop this spectacular sport.
